#79 Dark entities as teachers… What can you learn from them?

We are going to unpack do dark entities reflect our inner shadow selves and could this be why we attract them? Also, can the darkness teach us about our darkness within and what we do with the lessons and learning?

Today we enter the classroom with dark entities as the teachers and what could they possibly have to teach us?… You might just be surprised! We are going to unpack do dark entities reflect our inner shadow selves and could this be why we attract them? Also, can the darkness around us teach us about our darkness within and what we do with the lessons and learning?

And I will share my personal learning from the darkness and what I understand about a portion of my shadow self. So, let’s get into it exploring the connection between our innermost darkness and those lurking lower vibrational being who share this environment with us. Pencil and paper ready… the lessons start now…

#79 Dark entities as teachers… What can you learn from them?

OUR first question…

Do dark entities reflect our inner shadow selves and could this be
why we attract them?

I say, ‘Yes’ and this is why? Dark entities can indeed reflect our inner shadow selves, and this reflection may be a reason why we attract them. The concept is rooted in the psychological idea that our external experiences and encounters often mirror our internal mental and emotional state – the thoughts, words, actions and reactions we create every day and in difficult situations. When we are grappling with unacknowledged or unresolved aspects of our psyche, such as repressed emotions, fears, or desires, these can manifest externally as a vibration which may attract dark entities. These entities serve are attracted to our inner conflicts, and making them visible and tangible with emotions and reactions creates vibrations pulsing out into our environment.

I often share with clients and anyone willing to listen that attracting dark entities can be understood as a call for contemplation, awareness and a willingness to work on your  personal growth – mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. The presence of these entities can signal that there are aspects of our shadow self that need to be addressed. By confronting these entities, we are given an opportunity to explore and understand the parts of ourselves that we have been avoiding or suppressing. This confrontation can be truly challenging, but it is a crucial step in the process of integrating our shadow self as it is part of our whole person. Through this integration, we can achieve greater psychological balance and self-awareness, leading to a more genuine, authentic and fulfilling life. In this way, the attraction of dark entities is not merely a reflection of our inner state but also a minor or major catalyst for transformation and healing. This process comes with homework, which I will talk about later on.

Can the darkness around us teach us about our darkness within?

Historically, the concept of the human shadow self originates from the theories of Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung, who described the shadow as the unconscious part of the personality that contains our repressed weaknesses, desires, and primitive responses and instincts. This shadow self is composed of elements of our psyche that we often deny or are unaware of, because they are deemed socially unacceptable or contrary to our self-image, how we see ourselves or want others to see us. These repressed elements can include emotions like anger, rage, hatred, resentment, envy, greed, or even positive attributes that we feel are not aligned with societal expectations. The shadow self can manifest in our behaviours and reactions that seem out of character, surfacing in moments of stress, conflict, or emotional upheaval.

Engaging with the shadow self is a crucial aspect of personal growth and self-awareness. By acknowledging and integrating these hidden parts of ourselves, we can achieve greater psychological balance and wholeness. Jung believed that this process, known as shadow work, involves recognizing and accepting the shadow’s influence, thereby reducing its control over our behaviour. Through shadow work, individuals can transform negative traits into sources of strength and creativity. Embracing the shadow self allows for a deeper understanding of oneself and others, fostering compassion, building self-acceptance and awareness and reducing internal conflicts.

So, now let’s look at how these fascinating entities teach us?

What lessons can we learn from dark entities?

 1.     One key lesson is the importance of confronting and understanding our fears and negative emotions rather than avoiding or repressing them.

2.     Facing our emotions that we avoid dealing with and choosing a more beneficial way to respond.

3.     Facing our reactions and the personal situations that trigger us, and looking at whether we need to respond, is the situation our business, are we being drawn into another person’s drama and manipulation or can we safely walk away to stand in our power.

4.     Dark entities often symbolize the parts of ourselves we reject or find difficult to accept. By facing these entities, we can uncover underlying issues, such as unresolved traumas or deep-seated insecurities, and begin the healing process. This confrontation promotes self-awareness and resilience, enabling us to transform fear into empowerment and vulnerability into strength.

5.     Another lesson from dark entities is the recognition of the duality within human nature. Just as light cannot exist without darkness, our positive traits are often balanced by negative ones. Accepting this duality allows for a more holistic view of ourselves and others. It teaches us to embrace our imperfections and recognize the potential for growth within our flaws.

By integrating these darker aspects, we can achieve greater emotional and psychological balance, leading to more authentic and compassionate relationships. Ultimately, dark entities remind us that growth often comes from facing and integrating the most challenging parts of our existence.

 And what about the homework?

Well, there is ALWAYS homework!!! Daily sometimes, or certain situations or people who trigger you. I do have to say it does get easier with the more practice you do and the homework isn’t hard but does require us to acknowledge our shadow traits, negative emotions and reactions honestly. Putting into practice what we learn from our shadow selves involves several steps focused on self-awareness, acceptance, and integration.

The first step is engaging in self-reflection to identify and acknowledge the parts of ourselves that we have repressed or denied. This can be facilitated through various methods such as journaling, meditation, counselling and therapy. By creating a safe space for honest self-exploration, we can begin to recognize patterns, triggers, and behaviours that stem from our shadow self. It’s essential to approach this process with compassion and non-judgment, kindness to ourselves and understanding that everyone has a shadow and that it is a natural part of being human.

Once we have identified elements of our shadow self, the second step is to integrate these aspects into our conscious identity. This means accepting and embracing these traits rather than continuing to push them away or avoiding them. Practising self-compassion is crucial, as it allows us to forgive ourselves for past behaviours influenced by the shadow self. We can also use the insights gained to make more informed and deliberate choices in our daily lives.

For example, here comes two of my personal shadow traits that I have acknowledged in the last 10 – 15 years… yes that long, I constantly work on bettering these two traits of resentment and hostility.

Resentment and hostility both appear in situation for me where my high standard of moral and ethical values are challenged not by what others do BUT by my choice in the responses I make internally and externally.

Resentment used to appear when I was annoyed by someone getting away with corrupted ethics and others around the particular person were blind to the deviousness, and immorality and didn’t see the corrupted values. I had to learn to not let my emotions and morals get involved in how other people represent themselves as really it is none of my business. My resentment was internal building in repeatedly creating resentment because I would think about the person and their ways and it would go round and round in my mind.

Hostility was both internal and external. Internal fuming usually about my perception of other people’s laziness on the road, not following the road rules, dangerous behaviours and thinking I was always right… which is not the case!
Externally, hostility would appear as me muttering negative words, flickering my car lights, swearing out loud and hand gestures which were all totally unnecessary again, and getting involved in other people’s behaviours that didn’t involve me! Within a few days having to deal with the entities attracted to my hostility creating in the driving situations.

So now when driving, I am aware of the road of mine and other people’s driving BUT I don’t react in negative ways I stay calm and think before lashing out. I manage to do this around 80% of the time, no one is perfect. And the same for ‘resentment’, if it isn’t my business – I don’t let myself get caught in the drama or let my morals and ethics run the show!

Do these entities like teaching us?

I think both yes and no…it is a double-edged sword for them. YES because they are fulfilling the roles they signed up for eons ago to be part of the darkness challenging our inner thoughts, emotions and reactions.

And NO because when we are aligned with our emotions, more self-accepting and aware, we don’t create their continuously needed energetic food by creating negative emotions and responses, leaving these entities looking more and more for fulfilling their feeding needs.
